Fun Time Blogging!

Being close to sea, seafood is very much favoured by the local people of Kerala. Kerala is known for its greenery, also being a tourist destination is also known as God's Own Country. Food has an important role to play as everyone loves the taste of good, tasty, spicy food... Being from Kerala, the Gods Own Country. i.e.; from the Travancore side of Kerala to be exact. My native place is in Kollam, where both my parents are from. And my ancestors come from the Trivandrum side. But I did my schooling and higher education in the city of Cochin, Kerala. So in many sense I am a true Kochi girl. For higher studies, I did my Engineering degree. Then for working I had to move to Bangalore where my job was. I married my husband, who is mainly from Trivandrum but whose family is settled in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, near to Kerala Border. When I became pregnant, I had to quit my job and it was then that I found quality time for writing, blogging and cooking. Here in my website, I have included recipes that are tried and tested and which I frequently make at home, those recipes which I have learned from my Mom and Grand Mother, and also those recipes which I have got to taste and those which I got to try while watching TV and from the web. I have tried to capture the Kerala style of cooking tasty food in this website like the Travancore, Malabar & Kuttanadan style of cooking tasty food. I started this venture in 2017 with the encouragement from my husband. The content and pictures I have posted in this blog are my own and I did all the work on my own on this website. Hope everyone will enjoy this ride browsing through these recipes. Thanks for taking your time and hope you have a good time. Take care and stay blessed!

Travancore Style

Travancore is an area less explored by culinary experts. Travancore lying on the coastal areas from the central to the south of Kerala, from the coastline of Kochi or Cochin extended to the great capital city of the present day Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram or Trivandrum for short. It travels through the coast of Kochi, the backwaters and mainlands of Alleppey, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta & Kollam town to the present day capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.

Being along the coast, the people of this region loves sea food. The magic lies in being close to sea. Travancore Recipes have many things in common with the Christian Syrian or Suriani way of cooking, with the Travancore side also including a lot of vegetarian recipes. Suriani way has a lot of non-vegetarian like meat & sea food blended in one with less of vegetarian dishes. Travancore side as there was and still has many vegetarians during our time only vegetable or fruit dishes were favored. This blog will be concentrating on people living in the Travancore side of Kerala and their culinary favorisms, both veg and non-veg.
